Employment Enterprises Inc is supporting an organization that partners with graduate school programs to further the advancement of graduate education and research. We are seeking an Accounting Assistant to provide a variety of functional accounting and financial support services. You will support the Finance Department by aiding with accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, payroll back-up, expense vouchers, and receipts and ensure that all work is submitted accurately and on time.

Accounting Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accounting-related entries to numerous registers, journals, and logs.
  • Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Support accounts payable activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness of invoice creation and entry.
  • Perform monthly bank settlements.
  • Drafts necessary correspondence for vendors, etc.
  • Prioritizes conflicting needs; manages matter’s expeditiously, proactively, and follows[1]through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures.
  • Serve as a backup on the Semi-monthly payroll preparation process and associated duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the CGS Controller.

Accounting Assistant Qualifications:

  • An Associates/Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business or significant equivalent experience is required.
  • At least two to three years of well-rounded experience in accounting or in a closely related field. Non-profit and Association Finance experience is a plus
  • Proven accounting experience, preferably as a general ledger, accounts receivable or payables Assistant.
  • Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures.
  • Intermediate Excel skills for financial analysis and accounting reconciliations.
  • Strong organizational skills that the reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail and time deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of the entire Microsoft Office suite, Internet and e-mail proficiency, and various accounting systems, Great Plains is considered a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand technical forms and financial reports.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the entire organization in addition to those expected in the Finance Department.
