Our client is a global leader in specialized MEP engineering and secure-environment solutions, delivering decades of expertise to critical government and commercial projects. The Lead Electrical Engineer is a Full-time, Direct Hire opportunity based in Chantilly, VA, with a salary of $125,000.00-$175,000. This role provides electrical design expertise and discipline leadership for complex infrastructure projects, influencing project success from initial survey through final inspection.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the electrical discipline lead for assigned projects, directing engineers and designers.
  • Write technical reports, conduct field surveys, and perform engineering calculations.
  • Develop designs for power, telemetry, and telecommunications systems.
  • Support system integration, testing, and hands-on equipment work, including PLC programming.
  • Oversee medium-scale electrical engineering projects or contribute to large, multi-discipline efforts.
  • Coordinate with internal discipline leads, external partners, and project stakeholders.
  • Support proposal development and assist in research, design, and specification of electrical systems.
  • Assist in troubleshooting system malfunctions, diagnosing issues, and recommending long-term solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • 5–10 years of MEP or similar experience.
  • U.S. citizenship and active Secret or Top-Secret clearance.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or ability to obtain Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure within one year.
  • Experience with single- and three-phase power systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical codes and standards.
  • Proficiency with 2D CAD (AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) design or hands-on engineering experience.
  • Experience with critical power systems, PV and energy-storage system design.
  • Familiarity with industrial or network communications protocols.
  • Knowledge of control systems, PLC/HMI programming, and telemetry.
  • Experience with SKM or ETAP power-system analysis tools.
