Our client is a local government agency dedicated to providing inclusive, innovative, and high-quality public services to its residents. The Human Services Client Associate will provide crisis intervention, case management, and community outreach to support low-income and at-risk populations in Alexandria, VA. This is a full-time contract position paying $20.00 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Provides crisis intervention and emergency support services to low-income families, elderly persons, ex-offenders, and individuals with mental health or substance dependency issues.
- Conducts client interviews, assesses needs, and determines eligibility for social service programs.
- Coordinates and facilitates community workshops, outreach activities, and seminars to promote independence and self-sufficiency.
- Serves as liaison with multicultural and multilingual families, providing translation and interpretation as needed.
- Maintains and updates resource directories, reports, and administrative documentation.
- Attends community meetings and civic functions to promote program awareness and gather community input.
- Leads special projects and assists in planning and outreach efforts.
Qualifications
- Some experience counseling or providing social services to low-income populations, including crisis intervention and community outreach.
- Two-year college degree in a related field or equivalent experience, including two years of work in Virginia state systems.
- Knowledge of social service programs, eligibility requirements, and community resources.
- Ability to communicate clearly and tactfully, both orally and in writing; bilingual skills (Spanish/English or Amharic/English) preferred.
- Valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence.
- Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with database and reporting tools.
