Employment Enterprises, Inc. is working with one of Virginia’s outstanding public liberal arts universities. We are searching for a Procurement Assistant to support the university’s purchasing and contracting functions by processing procurement requests, managing purchase and contract records, ensuring compliance, collaborating across departments, and leveraging knowledge in contract negotiation, public procurement procedures, and administrative tools to deliver cost-effective and legally sound solutions. This position is onsite in Fredericksburg, VA and pays $30-$35 per hour.
Procurement Assistant Responsibilities
Process Small Purchase Procurements
Enter Purchase Orders
Review Entered Requisitions for Compliance
Complete Contract Records in Contract Management System
Locate eligible cooperative contracts for use by the university.
Appropriately renew existing eligible contracts
Provide Contract Review and Analysis assistance to department or other departments within the University and negotiate terms in accordance with state law, and university needs.
Procurement Assistant Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Working knowledge and use of Microsoft Applications with emphasis on Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.
Working knowledge and use of Zoom or other similar virtual meeting / collaboration platform and VOIP phone system.
Customer Service Experience.
General Office / Administrative Experience.
Cross-functional Team Experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field, Graduate level Degree or Certificate in Procurement or Supply Chain Management, or related degree program preferred.
Project Management Certificate preferred.
Demonstrated ability to process procurement requests via public procurement methods (RFP, IFB, RFI, RFQ, Small Purchase Procedures) and including: available cooperative contract search, commodity research, specification development, mitigation of business, legal and financial risks, understanding and application of contract management, and administration principles; negotiation principles and techniques, facilitation of an evaluation committee; knowledge of contracting language and ability to review and negotiate contracts for the benefit of the university preferred.
Knowledge of technical writing and ability to create and/or edit procedural and other types of documentation preferred.
