Employment Enterprises, Inc. is working with a locally based and locally owned electric distribution system that provides electric services throughout Northern Virginia. We are searching for a SCADA Engineer with utility experience to join their team onsite in Manassas, VA. The role involves configuring, maintaining, and supporting SCADA and Load Management systems to ensure reliable, safe, and compliant operations. This is a market rate position, meaning we do not have a set salary and the client is open to a wide range commensurate with experience. Relocation assistance is available for qualifying candidates.

SCADA Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Design, configure, and maintain SCADA and Load Management infrastructure following company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Document all tasks to demonstrate compliance with applicable standards, including infrastructure changes, assessments, testing, and equipment disposal.
  • Ensure physical and cyber security procedures for the SCADA system are followed and maintained.
  • Program SCADA systems for communication with field devices such as IEDs, RTUs, and meters.
  • Support and maintain SCADA servers, databases, historian systems, operator displays, and related electrical operations systems.
  • Manage relationships with hardware and software vendors.
  • Create and update operator displays and system databases.
  • Coordinate with Power Supply for peak demand load shedding programs.
  • Support OT Cyber Security plans and incident response protocols.
  • Coordinate data exchange activities and participate in audits as a subject matter expert.
  • Provide technical support and assist in recovery efforts as needed.

SCADA Engineer Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting SCADA systems within the electric utility industry.
  • Strong proficiency with Windows, Linux, virtualization, network security, and configuration management software.
  • Knowledge of power system operations and basic understanding of NERC CIP standards.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
