Our client is one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the scientific community, recognized globally for advancing the hard sciences and publishing leading scientific journals. The Events Manager will oversee all aspects of global and domestic event logistics, ensuring seamless planning and execution to support the organization's mission.
This is a full-time, onsite, contract-based position in Washington, DC, paying $34.00 per hour. This is a contract position.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with senior leadership to develop and execute global event strategies
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and vendor contracts for conferences and meetings
- Oversee logistics including registration, housing, and onsite event management
- Conduct site RFPs, vendor negotiations, and contract management
- Collaborate with marketing teams to produce event materials and promotional campaigns
- Prepare detailed post-event reports and operational documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred
- 8+ years of demonstrated meeting and event planning experience
- 3+ years of global event planning experience
- Extensive knowledge of conference logistics and hospitality industry best practices
- Professional certifications such as CMP, CMM, or CEM preferred
- Proficient in Asana, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, and relevant databases
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills
- Customer service orientation and high attention to detail
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed, lift up to 25 lbs, and travel approximately 25%
