Our client is a major transportation agency responsible for connecting communities and supporting mobility across the DC region. The FMLA Specialist will independently approve and deny FMLA cases based on relevant medical information, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and employee privacy guidelines. This is a full-time position in Hyattsville, MD, paying $45.16 per hour. This is a contract-to-hire position.

Responsibilities

• Independently approve and/or deny FMLA cases based on medical information.
• Coordinate and organize medical information, monitoring HIPAA and employee privacy compliance.
• Review and assess FMLA leave practices, proposing revisions for accuracy, efficiency, and communication.
• Counsel employees, supervisors, and management regarding FMLA rights and responsibilities while maintaining confidentiality.
• Manage FMLA leave applications, periods of leave, and return-to-work processes.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of experience with FMLA leave.
• Knowledge of ADA (American Disability Act) and other benefit leaves is preferred.
• Experience in leave management, HR, or related fields.
