Our client serves one of the largest and fastest-growing constituencies in Northern Virginia, focused on enhancing quality of life for residents. The IT Specialist will support day-to-day technology operations across four fire stations, 200+ users, and administrative functions. 

This is a full-time, contract position based in Woodbridge, VA, paying $30-$40 per hour. 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT support requests from employees and volunteers
  • Manage IT service tickets through resolution, maintaining clear communication with requestors
  • Provide support for Windows workstations, laptops, and mobile devices
  • Support Microsoft 365 applications including Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and OneDrive
  • Train users on technology systems and document common procedures
  • Maintain and monitor network infrastructure across four stations including UniFi network equipment (Dream Machine Pro, switches, access points, and VoIP phone systems)
  • Manage dual ISP connectivity and troubleshoot network issues
  • Administer and maintain remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools
  • Oversee device lifecycle management including procurement, imaging, deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning
  • Maintain and support server infrastructure during decommissioning/migration activities
  • Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft Teams Rooms equipment (MaxHub, Logitech)
  • Support classroom technology including projectors, displays, and presentation systems
  • Execute AV upgrade projects from planning through implementation and user training
  • Plan and execute IT infrastructure projects including jump box deployment, UPS replacements, power distribution unit installation, and cabling
  • Coordinate warranty repairs and RMA processes with vendors
  • Support business process automation initiatives and SaaS platform administration (Softr, Airtable)
  • Manage mobile device deployment projects (FirstNet devices)
  • Coordinate with vendors for CCTV and access control system evaluation and implementation
  • Manage Microsoft 365 licensing and renewals
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend technology solutions to leadership
  • Prepare technology proposals and present recommendations to the Board of Directors

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of hands-on IT support experience in a small business or multi-site environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 administration
  • Experience with network infrastructure including switches, access points, and firewalls
  • Familiarity with remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass a national background check and Virginia Office of EMS fingerprint screening
