Our client is a global leader in specialized MEP engineering and secure environment solutions, delivering decades of expertise to critical government and commercial projects. The Senior Electrical Engineer role offers an opportunity to provide electrical design expertise and leadership for complex multidisciplinary projects. This is a Full-time, Direct Hire opportunity based in Chantilly, VA, with a salary range of $125,000 to $175,000.
Responsibilities
- Oversee medium and large multidisciplinary engineering projects, or complex single-discipline efforts.
- Coordinate with internal and external discipline leads, as well as client, construction manager, subcontractor, and vendor interfaces. Provide feedback to project managers and customers to address their problems and needs.
- Proposal development with support from the discipline leads.
- Identify non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys.
- Develop electrical training presentations and manuals for internal and external use.
- Develop construction drawing packages and write construction specifications on projects of advanced complexity and with little oversight.
- Research, design, specify, and evaluate electrical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
- Write performance requirements for product development or engineering projects.
- Apply engineering principles and be open to acquiring new skills and knowledge in the field of engineering.
- Read, develop, and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
- Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of equipment, components, and systems.
- Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendations for future mitigation strategies or design modifications to eliminate device or system malfunctions.
Qualifications
- Required:
- BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
- 10-15+ years of MEP experience
- US Citizenship
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
- Active DoD security clearance
- Experience with single- and three-phase power systems, electrical codes, and standards
- Proficiency with 2D CAD (AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Preferred:
- Experience in architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) design
- Critical power systems including UPS, generators, transfer switches, fault-tolerant topologies
- Industrial and network communications protocols
- Control systems design, PLC/HMI programming
- Photovoltaic (PV) and Energy Storage Systems (ESS)
- Technical training and project management experience
- Familiarity with SKM or ETAP software
