Our client is a major transportation agency responsible for connecting communities and supporting mobility across the DC region. The FMLA Specialist will independently approve and/or deny FMLA cases based on relevant medical information. This position is paying $45.16 per hour and is a full-time contract position based in Hyattsville, MD.

Responsibilities

  • Approves or denies FMLA cases based on medical information.
  • Coordinates and organizes medical data, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and Employee Privacy guidelines.
  • Reviews current FMLA practices and recommends revisions to improve accuracy, consistency, efficiency, and stakeholder communication.
  • Counsels employees, supervisors, and management about FMLA rights and responsibilities while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Manages the MLA leave application process, FMLA leave periods, and return-to-work procedures.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years experience with FMLA leave.
  • Knowledge of ADA and other benefit leaves is preferable.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience with FMLA case management and confidentiality protocols.
