Our client is a major transportation agency responsible for connecting communities and supporting mobility across the DC region. The ADA Compliance Specialist will manage full cycle accommodation requests, ensure compliance with ADA laws, facilitate communication with medical providers, maintain records, and support inclusive, discrimination-free work environment.
This is a full-time position based in Hyattsville, MD, paying $45.16 per hour. This is a contract position.
Responsibilities
- Effectively manage the full life cycle of accommodation requests, including administration, case management, and program compliance.
- Draft and deliver determination letters related to ADA interactive process.
- Engage with applicants, employees, medical professionals, and stakeholders to respond to accommodation requests.
- Facilitate lactation arrangements and maintain related records.
- Evaluate restrictions and accommodation options considering policies and collective bargaining agreements.
- Maintain confidentiality of all protected health information (PHI).
- Collaborate with clinical staff to assess employee return-to-work restrictions and determine necessary accommodations.
- Document and track all accommodation requests, ensuring compliance with ADA and DOL recordkeeping requirements.
- Facilitate ADA compliance training related to reasonable accommodations, lactation breaks, and job reassignment.
- Stay current on relevant federal and state laws and regulations surrounding ADA.
- Partner with external organizations such as the Job Accommodation Network (JAN).
Qualifications
- Proven experience managing ADA accommodation processes and interactive procedures.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of ADA, ADAAA, and relevant employment laws.
- Experience working independently in a compliance role.
- Union experience preferred; government experience not required.
- Technical skills: familiarity with recordkeeping and documentation practices.
