Our client is a major transportation agency responsible for connecting communities and supporting mobility across the DC region. The Financial Analyst will support the year-end review of AP invoices, search for unrecorded liabilities, and assist in the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). This role involves analyzing financial transactions, preparing schedules, and collaborating with team members to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statements.
This is a full-time, contract position based in Alexandria, VA, paying $42.09 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Support the year-end preparation of the ACFR, including reviewing invoices and unrecorded liabilities
- Analyze financial reports, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Reconcile accounts and prepare audit schedules and notes to the financial statements
- Compile and organize audit support documentation (PBC)
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
- Perform research and analysis of transactions related to audit requests
- Maintain spreadsheets tracking unrecorded liabilities
- Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation for approval
- Collaborate with team members to ensure accuracy of financial statements
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Experience with accrual accounting and expense accrual procedures
- Prior experience with accounts payable and processing accruals within large organizations
- Preferable experience with PeopleSoft Financials
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting standards
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with data analysis
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
