Our client is a major transportation agency responsible for connecting communities and supporting mobility across the DC region. The Graphic Designer will develop and design layouts across all mediums, both print and digital, that have a clear focus, theme, and message for intended audiences. This role transforms and interprets ideas and information from creative briefs into visual products, including illustrations, publications, and visual aids. The designer will meet with copywriters, videographers, research teams, and project managers to collaborate on creative solutions to communication challenges. Additionally, responsibilities include assisting with all aspects of production and design of visual communications that raise awareness and appreciation for Metro initiatives, from concepts to final file preparation. The candidate should understand and comply with mobile-first best practices for digital design and organize creative assets within a Digital Asset Management system.

This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC, paying $52.00 per hour. It is a contract position.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design layouts for print and digital mediums with a focus on clarity and messaging.
• Interpret creative briefs into visual products such as illustrations, publications, and visual aids.
• Collaborate with copywriters, videographers, research teams, and project managers to develop creative solutions.
• Assist with production and finalization of visual communications.
• Implement mobile-first design principles.
• Organize creative assets into a digital management system.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years' experience in graphic and multimedia design, preferably within an advertising agency or in-house design team.
• Strong understanding of digital and print design processes.
• Experience with iterative design methods and stakeholder engagement.
• Technical skills in Adobe Creative Suite or similar design software.
• Experience in transportation or wayfinding system design (preferred).
