Our client is a leading real estate development company with a strong presence in the region, known for delivering vibrant neighborhoods and exciting destinations for over 50 years. The Tax Associate will support the tax department by preparing various tax returns and developing strategies to optimize tax savings. This is a Full-time, Direct Hire opportunity based in Fairfax, VA, with a salary range of $90,000 to $115,000.

Responsibilities

• Prepare partnership, S corporation, C corporation, individual, and trust tax returns
• Collaborate with the accounting team to review tax workpapers and fixed asset schedules
• Develop and implement tax planning strategies to reduce tax expense, mitigate exposures, and maintain a competitive effective tax rate
• Maximize tax loss carryforwards, bonus depreciation, Section 199A deductions, 179D studies, and cost segregation studies
• Oversee the preparation and review of tax projections for a three-year period
• Identify and drive process improvement projects within the tax function
• Maintain ownership of tax internal controls and update as needed
• Supervise and collaborate with outside tax advisors on various projects

Qualifications

• B.S. in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• At least 2 years of accounting experience in public accounting or private industry
• Experience in flow-through and individual taxation
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• High integrity, work ethic, and dependability

• Currently hold or be actively pursuing a CPA license.
• Some level of understanding of the real estate construction or development industry.
