Our client is a reputable construction firm with over 25 years of experience in the Washington, DC market. The Estimator position provides an opportunity to work on large-scale commercial and multifamily projects, contributing to the execution of high-profile developments in the DMV area. This is a Full-time, Direct Hire opportunity based in Washington, DC, with a salary range of $95,000 to $120,000.
Responsibilities
- Prepare conceptual budgets based on schematic drawings and early-stage project information
- Evaluate pricing and scopes of work; adjust as needed to ensure the estimate is complete and accurate
- Price and propose value engineering alternatives to clients within their budgets
- Coordinate with owners and design teams regarding scope adjustments and their impact on costs
- Manage multiple bids simultaneously, thoroughly study drawings, specs, and reports
- Identify incomplete bid documents and assist in developing project allowances
- Prepare subcontractor scope sheets and solicit subcontractor and vendor pricing
- Schedule and attend pre-bid meetings and site walk-throughs
- Develop bid sheets and schedules of values
- Prepare comprehensive RFP responses and assist in presentations
- Develop baseline and summary project schedules
- Assist with procurement activities, permitting, and project startup
- Support change order pricing on large scope modifications
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in the construction industry, estimating or preconstruction preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; equivalent experience considered
- Ability to manage multiple bids accurately and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; scheduling software experience preferred (Primavera or MS Project)
- Organized, action-oriented, with effective time management skills
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively
- Proven ability to build positive relationships with subcontractors, vendors, clients, and design consultants
