Our client is a reputable construction firm based in Washington, DC. The Superintendent will oversee field operations and project delivery for large-scale commercial or multifamily projects, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence. This is a Full-time, Direct Hire opportunity based in Washington, DC, with a salary range of $110,000 to $150,000.
Responsibilities
- Participate in project startup and planning, including developing baseline schedules and site utilization plans
- Coordinate subcontractor scopes of work to ensure quality and timely delivery
- Manage field labor and field operations staff, including Assistant Superintendents, Area Superintendents, and Project Engineers
- Lead weekly foreman's meetings and resolve day-to-day field issues
- Manage site logistics, including access, staging, deliveries, and housekeeping
- Enforce safety programs and ensure OSHA standards compliance
- Maintain site cleanliness and quality standards
- Schedule and participate in material testing, inspections, and follow up on non-compliance issues
- Create and manage project schedules, including look-ahead schedules and monthly updates
- Prepare daily reports with progress photos and labor totals
- Review shop drawings, coordinate work in place, and prepare in-situ mock-ups
- Draft RFIs and coordinate material tracking
- Coordinate with utility providers and jurisdiction officials
- Collaborate closely with the Project Manager from startup through closeout
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in the construction industry
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; equivalent experience considered
- OSHA 30 certification and First Aid/CPR/AED certification
- Proven leadership in managing field teams and multiple subcontractors
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in email and Microsoft Office; scheduling software experience (Primavera or MS Project) preferred
- Positive reputation for building relationships with stakeholders
