Our client is a trusted utility and energy provider delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable solutions to homes and businesses. The Payroll Administrator will support accurate payroll operations through time entry assistance, reporting, reconciliations, and effective communication with employees and managers.

This is a hybrid position based in Springfield, VA, paying $30.00 per hour. Hours will be variable with an anticipated average being 30 hours per week. The current variable schedule being Monday 8 hours, Tuesday 8 hours, Wednesday 8 hours, Thursday 6 hours one week and the next week is Tuesday 6, Wed 8, Thurs 8, Friday 8. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with payroll and HRIS-related tasks, including time entry support, routine report generation, and reconciliation activities.
  • Perform group data updates, exports/imports, clean-ups, and research/reporting on data discrepancies to ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Create and deliver daily/weekly/monthly reporting and respond to basic and intermediate ad hoc data requests.
  • Support user acceptance testing of HRIS updates or enhancements and assist with drafting requirements documentation.
  • Conduct data analysis using HR and payroll data (e.g., compensation, classification, employment, benefits, and employee relations) as directed.
  • Provide data to support internal and external audit requests by extracting information from the HRIS system.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned payroll-related functions, ensuring follow-up on technical administrative questions.
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives and coordinate activities of outsourced providers related to payroll.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience with payroll processes or HR administration, with strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, including the ability to generate and analyze reports using spreadsheets.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Preferred experience with Workday or comparable HRIS/payroll systems.
  • Experience supporting HR/payroll user acceptance testing and assisting with requirements documentation.
