Our client is a well-established window and building envelope company supporting a wide range of commercial and residential projects in the greater DMV area. The Financial Controller will oversee financial activities, ensure accuracy in financial reporting, and maintain robust financial controls. This is a Full-time, Direct Hire opportunity based in Lorton, Virginia. Our target salary range is $140,000-$165,000.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Develop and implement financial controls and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate budgeting and forecasting processes for accurate and timely reporting
- Monitor project costs and analyze variances to support cost control and profitability
- Prepare and present detailed financial reports and analysis to senior management and external stakeholders
- Lead the internal and external audit processes, ensuring timely completion and resolution of audit findings
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including AP, AR, and GL
- Understand and control compliance for construction industry requirements and tax compliance
- Maintain and forecast cash flow, managing banking relationships and credit facilities
- Partner closely with Project Managers to review job costs and budgets, proactively preventing cost overruns
- Oversee SWAM, FAR, and DFAR compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 5+ years of proven accounting management experience
- Construction industry experience preferred
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft applications
- Job costing and WIP experience preferred
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Leadership qualities and a team-oriented mindset
