Our client is a major transportation agency responsible for connecting communities and supporting mobility across the DC region. The Accommodations Specialist will manage the life cycle of accommodation requests, ensure compliance with ADA laws, facilitate communication among stakeholders, and support inclusive workplace initiatives.

This is a full-time position based in Hyattsville, MD, paying $45.16 per hour. This is a contract position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire accommodation request process, including administration, case management, and program compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA).
  • Engage with applicants, employees, medical professionals, supervisors, and internal stakeholders to facilitate reasonable accommodations.
  • Draft compliant correspondence and document all interactions and determinations thoroughly.
  • Facilitate lactation arrangements and maintain related records.
  • Evaluate employee restrictions and accommodation options, considering policies and business priorities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information (PHI).
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to assess employee restrictions and return-to-work accommodations.
  • Assist in managing employee leave and ensure safety priorities are met.
  • Communicate with medical providers to validate documentation supporting accommodation requests.
  • Ensure documentation meets ADA and DOL recordkeeping standards.
  • Provide training on ADA accommodations, lactation breaks, and job reassignment procedures.
  • Support diversity and inclusion initiatives within the organization.
  • Facilitate ergonomic evaluations and stay current with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Partner with external agencies such as the Job Accommodation Network (JAN).

Qualifications

  • Experience with ADA interactive process required.
  • Strong case management and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws related to disability accommodations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Relevant certifications related to ADA compliance or human resources preferred.
