Our client is a respected non-profit organization founded in 1876, committed to advancing scientific knowledge and fostering a global community through chemistry. They are seeking a Market Intelligence Analyst to work within their Research & Innovation department supporting strategic decision-making with market intelligence, strategic insights, and data visualization. This is a full-time contract position paying $45 - $50 per hour.

This is a full-time hybrid, contract position based in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct ongoing environmental scanning to identify emerging trends, opportunities, risks, and disruptions affecting ACS stakeholders, members, and customers.
  • Monitor and assess competitor and peer organizations, including professional societies, publishers, educational organizations, scientific institutions, and adjacent industries.
  • Produce competitive intelligence reports, benchmarking analyses, market landscape assessments, and trend briefs.
  • Design and execute qualitative and quantitative research studies, including interviews, surveys, and focus groups.
  • Develop research plans, discussion guides, questionnaires, and analytical frameworks.
  • synthesize findings from diverse data sources into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Create and maintain dashboards for ongoing monitoring of key market, customer, and competitive indicators using tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Present research findings and insights to senior leadership and cross-functional teams through reports, presentations, and executive briefings.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in mixed-methods research, combining qualitative and quantitative approaches to answer strategic business questions.
  • 8+ years of experience in market research, market intelligence, competitive analysis, or management consulting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and synthesize information into clear business implications.
  • Experience designing and conducting primary and secondary research.
  • Proficiency in data visualization and dashboard development using Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools such as SQL, R, Python, or Qualtrics is preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills, especially in presenting to executive audiences.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects and prioritize demanding timelines.
