Our client is a major transportation agency dedicated to connecting communities and supporting mobility across the DC region. The Temporary Benefits Enrollment Specialist will provide temporary support during the annual Open Enrollment period, serving as the primary point of contact for employees and retirees regarding benefits questions and enrollment activities. This is a full-time, contract position, onsite, based in Washington, DC, paying $33.00 per hour. Contract is anticipated to be approximately 2 months. Must be able to start immediately.
Responsibilities
- Answer inbound employee/retiree calls related to health, dental, vision, and other benefit programs.
- Explain benefit plan options, enrollment procedures, eligibility requirements, and deadlines.
- Assist employees with navigating online enrollment systems and resolving basic system issues.
- Document employee inquiries and interactions accurately.
- Escalate complex benefits, payroll, or system-related issues to the appropriate team members.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and benefits information.
- Support open enrollment communications and outreach efforts as needed.
- Meet established service level expectations for responsiveness and call quality.
Required qualification
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Prior experience in benefits administration, human resources, customer service, or a call center environment preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex information in a clear and professional manner.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based systems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment during peak enrollment periods.
Preferred qualification
- Experience supporting employee benefits programs.
- Familiarity with HRIS or benefits administration systems.
- Knowledge of open enrollment processes and employee benefits terminology.
