Our client is a nonprofit organization providing housing, medical respite care, and support services to assist individuals experiencing homelessness in achieving stability and independence. The Outreach Program Monitor will serve as a frontline worker engaging with homeless individuals in Arlington County, providing emergency assistance and directing clients to resources that support their path to stability. This is a part time contract position, onsite, based in Arlington, VA, paying $20.00 per hour.
Responsibilities:
Actively seek out and engage with homeless persons throughout Arlington County to support access to services and foster trust.
Build rapport by offering emergency assistance such as food, clothing, and shower vouchers.
Maintain daily logs of client contacts, manage donations, and ensure safety procedures are followed within the facility.
Assist clients within your scope in problem-solving and processing issues, supporting their social and economic needs.
Coordinate with community partners to connect clients with housing, health services, and benefits.
Conduct on-the-spot assessments and develop individualized care plans to address immediate needs.
Facilitate group outreach events and informational sessions for the homeless community.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma with experience in human services or a relevant combination of education and work experience.
Patience, persistence, and concern for the welfare of homeless individuals.
Ability to maintain accurate records and client confidentiality.
Valid driver’s license and current car insurance.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
Certification in CPR/First Aid preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience working directly with homeless populations or in outreach programs.
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices.
Experience using database management and reporting tools.
Volunteer or community engagement experience in local homeless initiatives.
