Our client is a nonprofit organization providing housing, medical respite care, and support services to help individuals experiencing homelessness achieve stability and independence. The Outreach Program Monitor will actively engage with community members and homeless individuals to offer emergency assistance, build trust, and connect clients to available services, contributing to long-term solutions for homelessness. This is a part time contract position, onsite, based in Arlington, VA, paying $20.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Engage with homeless persons throughout Arlington County to connect them with support services.
• Build rapport by offering emergency essentials such as food, clothing, and shower vouchers.
• Serve as the primary contact for clients and community members, maintaining courteous communication.
• Oversee the daily operation of the Day/Outreach Program during walk-in hours.
• Inform clients of available services and assist in accessing support systems.
• Respond to crisis situations to ensure safety.
• Record donations and maintain logs of client contacts and services provided.
• Conduct informal intake assessments and note social, economic, mental health, and substance use observations.
• Coordinate available services such as housing, healthcare, mental health, and social support with community partners.

• High school diploma or equivalent; experience in human services or related fields preferred.
• Experience working with homeless populations and multicultural settings preferred.
• Patience, persistence, and concern for client welfare required.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and safeguard confidentiality.
• Driver’s license and car insurance required.

• Previous experience in outreach, social work, or case management.
• Knowledge of local community resources and agencies.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish or other languages) are a plus.
