Our client is a government agency serving one of the largest and fastest-growing constituencies in Northern Virginia, focused on enhancing quality of life for residents. The Administrative Technician will provide temporary administrative support for the Parent Education Program during a staffing transition, assisting with front-office coverage, participant service, registration, payments, and general administrative tasks. This is an part time contract position, onsite, based in Manassas, VA, paying $18-$20 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to routine telephone, email, and in-person inquiries from participants and the public
  • Provide registration support and routine information about class schedules, locations, requirements, and program procedures
  • Receive participant payments, including cash, and accurately receipt payments according to established procedures
  • Prepare payment and deposit documentation following cash-handling procedures
  • Prepare class rosters, participant materials, surveys, certificates, correspondence, and other routine documents using provided templates
  • Send routine confirmations, reminders, schedule changes, and other program communications
  • Assist with filing, scanning, copying, document preparation, and organization of records
  • Support routine class logistics and preparation of instructional materials
  • Provide general administrative support to the Program Manager and team
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling participant, payment, and program information
Required Qualifications
  • Administrative or customer service experience
  • Experience receiving payments or handling cash in a professional setting
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Accurate recordkeeping and basic numerical skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Word
  • Strong organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow established procedures consistently, particularly when handling payments and confidential information
  • Ability to learn office procedures quickly and ask questions when instructions or authority are unclear
Preferred Qualifications
  • Spanish-language ability (helpful but not required)
  • Experience working in a government or educational setting
  • Knowledge of basic budgeting or financial reconciliation processes
  • Prior experience with online registration systems or database management
  • Excellent multitasking and time-management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Familiarity with confidentiality and data privacy protocols
